2026 WWBOTA DXCC Awards

Background

The WWBOTA DXCC Awards program is based on 36 DXCC entities currently in the scheme. The number in brackets after each entity name is the unique DXCC entity code assigned by ARRL.

Europe (29 entities): Albania (7), Austria (206), Balearic Islands (21), Belgium (209), Bosnia-Herzegovina (501), Corsica (214), Croatia (497), Czech Republic (503), England (223), France (227), Germany (230), Guernsey (106), Ireland (245), Isle of Man (114), Italy (248), Jersey (122), Moldova (179), Netherlands (263), North Macedonia (502), Northern Ireland (265), Norway (266), Poland (269), Romania (275), Sardinia (225), Scotland (279), Serbia (296), Slovenia (499), Spain (281), Wales (294)

North America (3 entities): Canada (1), Alaska (6), United States (291)

Oceania (2 entities): Hawaii (110), East Malaysia (46)

Africa (1 entity): Canary Islands (29)

Asia (1 entity): West Malaysia (299)

Note on Continental Classifications: This award uses ARRL’s official DXCC continental designations for consistency with the DXCC entity system. This is why Hawaii (despite being a US state) is classified as Oceania, and why Malaysia is split between Asia (West/Peninsular Malaysia) and Oceania (East Malaysia/Borneo). These classifications reflect ARRL’s regional groupings rather than political boundaries.

Note on Future Growth: As new countries join WWBOTA, the total number of DXCC entities will increase beyond the current 33. Note that a single country may contain more than one DXCC entity (for example, the United Kingdom contains England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and several Crown Dependencies). The score tiers proposed are designed to be robust enough to accommodate expected levels of growth, but will be reviewed and adjusted if necessary for the 2027 WWBOTA DXCC Awards.

Award Period

Annual Event Structure:

  • 2026 WWBOTA DXCC Awards: March 1 – December 31, 2026 (10 months)
  • 2027 WWBOTA DXCC Awards onwards: January 1 – December 31 annually
  • Scores reset at the start of each calendar year (from 2027 onwards)
  • Annual endorsements available for participants who achieve awards in multiple years

Award Categories and Tiers

Category 1: HUNTER/SWL

Working bunker stations in listed entities (out of 33 total):

  • Bronze: 5 entities
  • Silver: 10 entities
  • Gold: 15 entities
  • Diamond: 20 entities
  • Master 1: 25 entities

Category 2: ACTIVATOR

Activating bunkers from listed entities (out of 33 total):

  • Bronze: 2 entities
  • Silver: 4 entities
  • Gold: 6 entities
  • Diamond: 8 entities
  • Master 1: 10 entities

Category 3: ACTIVATOR B2B (Bunker to Bunker)

Entity-to-entity bunker to bunker (B2B) contacts while activating (unique entity pairs out of 33 total):

  • Bronze: 5 entity pairs
  • Silver: 10 entity pairs
  • Gold: 15 entity pairs
  • Diamond: 20 entity pairs
  • Master 1: 25 entity pairs

Note on B2B Scoring: B2B combinations are directional and count separately based on which entity the activator is operating FROM. For example, operating from Germany and working a bunker station in Belgium counts as one combination (Germany→Belgium), while operating from Belgium and working a bunker station in Germany counts as a separate combination (Belgium→Germany). This rewards activators who operate from multiple entities. Important: B2B contacts must be between two different entities – contacts within the same entity (e.g., Germany→Germany) do not count for B2B scoring.

Award Rules

Confirmation Requirements

  • All contacts must be logged in WWBOTA Logger
  • Claims submitted via WWBOTA Logger

Technical Specifications

  • Band requirements: Each entity counts once only, regardless of how many bands it is worked on
  • Mode requirements: Each entity counts once only, regardless of how many modes it is worked on
  • Valid date range: Only contacts made within the award period count

Category-Specific Rules

Hunter/SWL:

  • Count each entity once regardless of band/mode duplicates

Activator:

  • Minimum activation requirement: 25 valid QSOs per activation (HF or mixed HF and VHF/UHF), or 10 valid QSOs per activation (VHF/UHF).
  • Each entity counts once only when activated

B2B (Bunker-to-Bunker):

  • Both stations must be operating FROM listed entities (not just working into them)
  • The two entities must be different (same entity to same entity does not count)
  • Count unique directional entity pairs (Germany→Belgium is separate from Belgium→Germany)

Total Possible Achievements: 33 worked entities (Hunter), 33 activated entities (Activator), 1,056 unique directional entity pairs (B2B: 33×32)
